How to grow sunflowers in a pot

Sunflowers are one of the best plants to sow with children: they come up fast and grow fast. For pots, choose a dwarf variety.

20 to 30 cm for dwarf types. Tall varieties do not suit pots.

Sow straight into the final pot, 2 to 3 cm deep, once the soil is above 15 °C. It dislikes being transplanted.

Keep moist until it germinates, then water deeply but less often.

Seeds are ready when the back of the head turns yellow. Cover the head with netting to keep birds off.
