Light
Bright but indirect light. An east window is ideal. Midday sun scorches the leaves.
Phalaenopsis
The orchid most homes have is the moth orchid, Phalaenopsis. In the wild it clings to tree bark, and every rule of its care follows from that: its roots want air and hate being buried in soil.

In Verda these six stages pass in real time. It keeps growing while you are away.

For growing it in a pot, on a balcony or a windowsill.
Bright but indirect light. An east window is ideal. Midday sun scorches the leaves.
When the roots turn silvery grey, usually every 7 to 10 days. Soak the pot for 10 minutes and let it drain fully. Never leave water sitting between the leaves.
Not soil but a pine bark mix. A clear pot with holes lets the roots breathe and see light.
18 to 27 °C. A few degrees cooler at night in autumn is what triggers a new flower spike.
If the spike dries out, cut it at the base. If it is still green, cut just above a node; a new branch can grow from there.
In Verda the orchid is a rare flower and one of the showiest species there is, a good answer for a villager who wants something eye-catching.
